This studio focused on the urban regeneration and adaptive reuse of two selected sites that share similar characteristics, including their existing decadent situation, their heritage condition, and the presence of ongoing programs to convert them into social and cultural spaces.
The sample, on the site of the former Ateliers Publison in Paris, and the Girls Innovation Center project in Khadia, Ahmedabad, were the sites of our design proposals. We rehabilitated both abandoned buildings and their surroundings, integrating them into the public realm and developing interconnected and replicable strategies for both sites.
Participants conducted a comprehensive analysis that recognized the interdependence of physical, social, and economic factors in different contexts; to offer innovative solutions that respond simultaneously to the needs of local communities and the wider global challenges. The design proposals aimed to bring back a sense of place, enhance social interaction, and improve environmental sustainability.
