Architects shy away from urban housing design due to perceived lack of scope in designing evocative spaces. Yet housing and commercial spaces constitute a substantial bulk of urban built environments. At best, architects try to break away from mundane housing designs by taking recourse to formal jugglery. The MAD studio attempts to explore the scope of architecture in urban housing in India.
