A 'Dissonant' Student Centre at BHU

Prestigious institutions like Banaras Hindu University are considered the ‘think tanks of India’. Madan Mohan Malviya’s dream of BHU as a cosmopolitan space brimming with ideas remains forgotten. Over the years, the institution has grappled with various issues regarding education, safety, casteism, etc. The issues have been raised by the students but continually ignored and even shunned with violence sometimes. A regressive culture continues at BHU, resulting in years of setbacks. The student centre was established to foresee this vision as it created space for discussion and debate on issues concerning BHU. It has given students the right to challenge the administration and voice their opinions to improve their campus life. The building stands in complete dissonance in its existing context of BHU, signifying the dissonant dialogues between the students and administration and serving as a testament to progress and development.
How does one merge ‘Everydayness’ with ‘ Dissonant Dialogues’ in a student centre?
