A Student Centre, Banaras Hindu University

Every few years, violence afflicts the BHU campus because of the student council elections and protests regarding it. The Student Centre intends to satirise the flaws of certain aspects of BHU student culture by subtly highlighting contradictions, and change the overall attitudes of students. The Centre morbidly makes fun of this violence and gundagardi by institutionalising it, and addressing the pervasive problem of harassment through cynically pushing for gender equality. However, the existing mining tunnels on-site shun this ‘regression’- offering ‘enlightenment’ through exposure to different perspectives. Each space thus makes one choose which direction to go towards- regression or progression.
