Woven Woods - A Textile rebirth at ATIRA

Woven Woods - A Textile rebirth at ATIRA
“Woven Woods” transforms the landscape into a living tapestry, embodying the textures, patterns, and processes fundamental to textile creation. This concept interlaces the organic elements of the forest with human-made structures, crafting spaces that invite interaction, contemplation, and discovery. The landscape becomes a metaphor for the textile industry through design, emphasizing sustainability, innovation, and the intertwining of technology with nature. The project proposes an immersive transformation of the Ahmedabad Textile Industry Research Association (ATIRA) campus, a site historically significant yet currently overshadowed by its natural surroundings and diminished architectural prominence. The essence of ATIRA’s textile legacy is lost amidst the prevailing wilderness. This disconnect not only obscures the institution’s rich textile heritage but also its potential as a dynamic communal space.

This landscape redesign seeks not only to restore the historical identity of ATIRA but also to forge a connection between the site and its users, evoking both historical reflection and forward-looking inspiration.
