Space making is much more than an act of building, for it has emotions as well as expressions. Design is a dialogue where the designer encodes the messages and clues while the perceiver decodes the same. The project focused on this most fundamental phenomenon of space conception and perception, aimed at understanding the fundamentals of space design while exploring the spatial role of space making elements such as floor, column, wall, etc., the impact of basic design decisions of siting and location, form and massing, movement and organizational structure, choice of elements, material and technique of construction, finishes and elements of nature such as light, vegetation, water and land as spatial elements and their role in space making. The memorial was designed as a space that was interactive, expressive of emotions as well as experientially engaging, amidst a nature dominated setting and derived architectural resolution for appropriate spatial narrative.
