This exhibition space is a repository for dinosaur fossils and historical artifacts of significance to Ahmedabad. It draws inspiration from Joao Luis’ Iberian Museum for art and archaeology, originally planned for Portugal but now reimagined within the parking lot of Gandhinagar’s Indroda Dinosaur Park. The design has been adapted to suit this new setting while remaining true to Joao’s principles and ideologies. Every aspect, including load bearing structure, materials, site integration, nature of the bamboo veil and spatial organization, has been carefully analyzed and refined to create a cohesive architectural expression that reflects these concepts. In essence, the building serves as both a homage to Joao’s vision and a testament to the rich history and cultural heritage of Ahmedabad. Its tectonic expression not only responds to practical considerations but also embodies a deeper understanding of architectural principles and the significance of its contents. Through thoughtful design and attention to detail, the space becomes more than just a museum, it becomes a narrative of the past, present, and future of the city and its inhabitants.
