The studio is about understanding and applying lessons from the important Architectural examples of India and Europe. The intention is to take inspiring architectural examples which expresses the basics of architecture in a simple and profound manner.
This studio seeks to focus on aspects of ‘Architectural experience’ out of the number of possible ways to learn architecture. An attempt has been made to formally analyse and find the principles and elements that define the Architectural experience. Emphasis has been on issues of organisation, ordering, structure and material relationship, relationship of buildings with topography, nature of site and water.
The design inquiry, which was seen as an exercise to synthesis the learning, was of responding to a sensitive immediate context and building a small-scale house which grows up to become an institution. The studio responds to the forces of increment in planning and organising a simple program with complexity in stages. Design process emphasises on material and structure to develop an architectural language.
