Chiaroscuro is a center for teenagers to come together to learn the outdoor nursery activities of potting and soiling as well as the indoor activity of creating terrariums. It also offers opportunities for book loving teens to engage in personal and community reading to wind down after their day. The life of a teenager presents itself in contrasts, of emotions that overwhelm them, or the parts of themselves that remain both childlike and adultlike. I have hence chosen to create spaces that amplify contrast, be it through forms, materials, light qualities and colours. At the same time, the attempt has been to achieve a harmonious spatial expression despite the contrast.
