This paper explores the subject of disability and places it in the Indian context to better understand the issues that are faced by those with reduced physical mobility. This research will entail conducting case studies in different cities. The concept of universal design and accessibility shall be discussed. Expert opinions of doctors, physiotherapists, and psychologists will be taken to understand further their insights on disability. The Indian protocols in the retail context shall be compared with the retail guidelines of the developed countries, namely Australia. This paper will conclude by deriving steps and guidelines to be taken as a designer to ensure such needs are met.
