Methodology for real time assessment of split air conditioners

My DRP focuses on developing a testing protocol which will be extensively about the performance evaluation of split air conditioners in real time conditions. The testing protocol will consists of a series of tests for assessing the indoor and outdoor units on multiple parameters and the testing procedure to be followed as per ASHRAE 41.1and ASHRAE Fundamentals,1997.Further the report will detail out the criteria of carrying out the experiments ,the instrument required, the pre-requisite that needs to be done before the tests, margins of error that can occur due to transient loads and also referring the standard ISO 5151 for carrying out experiments at standard conditions and evaluating the rated Energy efficiency ratio(EER) and seasonal energy efficiency ratio(SEER) of air conditioners. In accordance with the Bureau of Indian Standards, air conditioners are tested before any rating is issued. The tests are conducted under standard outdoor and indoor conditions at rated frequencies and voltages, but the machine performance and energy consumption vary with climatic conditions, air infiltration rates, and voltage fluctuations. As a result, a testing protocol needs to be developed to evaluate the performance of the air conditioners, a detailed step-by-step method for assessing the performance based on parameters such as the heat rejection rate by the compressor, the compressor power output, the system capacity, and the coefficient of performance (C.O.P).
