Modern RACs boasts smart inverter technology that dramatically reduces energy consumption, but their efficiency often remains a mystery hidden within controlled lab tests. Therefore, this research is directed toward developing a testing protocol to assess the performance of split air conditioners in the real world, where setting up an elaborate lab-controlled environment is impractical and uneconomical.

This experimental study is carried out based on different test procedures like the Indoor air enthalpy method mentioned in ASHRAE guidelines 116 and the cooling capacity test in IS 1391 Part :2.
For evaluating the performance of the air conditioner assessment is carried out through uncertainty analysis which helps in understanding the sensitivity of each parameter in the performance of the RACs. Hence this proposed protocol serves as a practical solution that is not only cost-effective but also provides an alternative solution to traditional lab testing, enabling broader access to reliable performance assessments for manufacturers and clients.
