Assessment of flood vulnerability and the responses of development plans
Understanding flood vulnerability is important to address the underlying causes of the same. Through this DRP we aim first to identify the indicators of flood vulnerability for a city. In the second task, stakeholders will be interviewed to understand the importance of each of the indicators. A socio-economic flood vulnerability map will be prepared by combing the indicators weights and their values at a ward level for a city. In this DRP in particular, the idea is to experiment with different weighting criteria and analyze their corresponding impact on the vulnerability maps. This analysis will help us choose the most suitable method for arriving at a vulnerability index. In the last phase, the Development Plan and the DCR will be analyzed for their response to vulnerability.
