This research aims to understand flood vulnerability and address its root causes effectively. Initially, indicators specific to a city's flood vulnerability were identified through a literature review, and stakeholders were interviewed to assess the importance of each indicator. A composite vulnerability index was then developed, and the indicators were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Subsequently, a socio-economic flood vulnerability map was created using both PCA and AHP, integrating indicator weights and values at a ward level in the city. The research also experimented with various weighting criteria to analyze their impact on vulnerability maps, helping select the most suitable method for deriving a vulnerability index. The resulting vulnerability maps highlight hotspots and suggest strategies to enhance Ahmedabad's flood resilience.
