AANGAN VAAT_COURTYARD TALES

The project explores the adaptive reuse of Kaba Gandhi No Delo into a heritage home-stay, centered around a community kitchen and dining space. The design strategy introduces modern insertions—minimal, tactile, and sensitive—that complement or gently contrast the heritage setting. Lighting becomes a storytelling medium, guided by key insights from prior explorations of light as a functional, aesthetic, and emotive element. Soft ambient lighting preserves the introspective calm of private rooms, task lighting activates the kitchen, and warm glows foster communal dining. Inspired by Gandhian values, light bridges tradition and modernity, enriching spatial experience through emotion, rhythm, and memory.
