The studio will encompass the Fundamentals of lighting, including daylight control strategies and glare management techniques. It will also cover the historical evolution of light and light culture, along with biodynamic lighting and its effects on human well-being. The course will explore Artificial Lighting, emphasizing the study of foundational design principles and criteria for lighting design in interior spaces. The studio includes different lighting design projects, where students will not only develop their designs but also specify luminaires, experiential qualities but also explores relations of daylighting with interior spaces. By the end of the course, students will have gained an understanding of the essential principles of artificial lighting design, basics of daylighting , working through the comprehensive projects over the term, enabling them to appreciate and engage with the nuances of this intangible, important element of design called LIGHT.
