CIRCLING THE SQUARE - A Creche at the Bandstand

Circling the Square is a crèche at the Bandstand, designed as a centralized space with a strong radial axis celebrating the iconic site. The project evolves from a central square, extending into circular geometries that cater to child-friendly programmatic needs. Functional spaces are sunken into the earth through subtle ground modulation, enhancing spatial intimacy. Three orthogonal modular grids, each at a distinct angle, intersect at the central square, generating unique spatial characters for diverse functions.  A perforated dome unifies the circular layout and channels natural light within. This space explores a blend of geometry, light and topography for children.
