The Luminous Spine is a book studio by the river at Kamatibaug, Vadodara, surrounded by lush greenery. The land gently slopes into the river, with plants marking a smooth transition. The design follows a strong central axis, forming the main path of the studio. Rectangular spaces are arranged along this axis—on the land side, they are set perpendicular, housing bookshelves and a staircase. On the river side, reading rooms and seating areas break away and rotate, opening toward the view. The space invites both readers and non-readers, using movement, rhythm, scale, and enclosure to create a peaceful reading experience.
