Saanjh

‘Saanjh’, meaning confluence, is a sensitive extension to the Darpana Academy in Ahmedabad, continuing its legacy of performance, discipline, and cultural dialogue. Positioned beside Kanvinde’s iconic building, the design layers a light steel enclosure with load-bearing brick walls, creating a conversation between openness and rootedness. It houses dance spaces, an archive, a black box thrust theatre, an artist's residence and informal gathering zones, allowing performance and process to coexist. Rather than mimic, Saanjh responds—through material, rhythm, and form—to the ethos of Darpana, becoming a space where tradition and contemporary expression meet in a layered architectural experience.
