The ‘Equilibria’ is a ‘design and make’ based studio exploring form-finding through an understanding of systems in nature, form and forces. It explores the potential of Ferro-concrete beyond its application as a material, but as technique to facilitate the form-finding technique.
The studio will develop an operative design framework to design and build a structure using an interactive approach towards form-finding, analogue computation, and material computation.
The studio will investigate ‘Light’ as a generator of Spatial experience. The students will explore the correlation between light, form, force and material through an understanding of physical parameters, material systems, and construction techniques.
The studio will adopt an integrative approach by following the attitude of learning by doing, thinking through hands, iterative processes, and making small-scale prototypes, diagrams, and drawings. The final outcome of the studio will be to design and build a 1:1 prototype of a pavilion structure.
