Samaya: Bodhi Begins Here

Samaya: Bodhi Begins Here is a concept-driven hotel nestled in the serene valley of Gangtok beside the Rani Khola river. Rooted in the Twelve Deeds of Buddha, the design symbolizes a spiritual journey—from birth to enlightenment—interpreted through spatial storytelling. Each deed is abstracted into an interior experience using natural materials like wood and stone, integrating local Sikkimese culture. The architectural narrative unfolds as “playing with leaves,” a metaphor for impermanence and discovery. Spaces transition fluidly from grounded, tactile elements to serene, meditative zones—mirroring the evolving consciousness of the Buddha—offering guests an immersive path toward inner stillness.
