Clay Tides: Stories Between Hands and Earth

This portfolio documents my journey throughout the Introduction to Ceramic Studio course. I experimented with terracotta through pinching, coiling, slab construction, and texture development. In the second half, I worked with stoneware, learned wheel throwing, played with slips and glazes, and created tableware. My project was Kerala boat race inspired, showing the process of developing a clay slab into boat shapes. The group project was balance using sculptural tableware. This studio explained the material quality of ceramic to me and introduced how to respect its complex, time-consuming process. I enjoyed each step and look forward eagerly to doing it again.
