PARADOXICAL SCRIPTS : A Fountain Pen Exhibit

This design project presents a contemplative exhibition space for the fountain pen collection of architect Tadao Ando, embodying the paradoxes central to his philosophy—light and shadow, solidity and void, simplicity and complexity. The pens are displayed in austere concrete plinths, their delicate forms encased in precision-cut glass, suspended as if weightless within heavy mass. Each object is individually illuminated, emphasizing the tension between permanence and ephemerality. The spatial arrangement invites slow movement and introspection, mirroring Ando’s belief in architecture as a journey through contrasts. The design becomes not just a display, but a dialogue between tool, space, and silence.
