Terms of Submission is an interactive installation that critiques the illusion of digital consent by translating the browser cookie experience into a physical, participatory space. Participants are greeted by a familiar interface, complete with a fake consent banner and useless options, while unknowingly being recorded from arrival. The system mimics the deceptive design of online tracking: the “Accept All” button works, the “Essentials Only” button does nothing, and all interaction is performative. Later, users witness the footage of a previous participant, creating a looping cycle of exposure and inherited surveillance. By blending humor, discomfort, and interface design, the project invites reflection on how easily agency is surrendered in the name of convenience, and how systems we think we control often operate on their terms.
