SUSTAINABLE WATER SOLUTIONS FOR SLUMS IN SURAT

The Bapu Nagar slum in Surat faces acute challenges related to water quality, affordability, and secure storage, making it highly vulnerable, especially during extreme climate events. This project is crucial as it provides decentralized, resilient, and community-managed water infrastructure tailored to local needs. By introducing solar water purifiers, shared storage tanks, and subsidized kiosks, it ensures safe and continuous access to clean water. The interventions reduce health risks, empower local communities through participation, and build long-term climate resilience. In a flood-prone, underserved area like Bapu Nagar, such targeted solutions are essential to ensure public health, dignity, and equitable urban development.
