Liveable Rajkot: Economy I Equity I Environment

Rajkot, a major industrial center in Saurashtra, faces rapid urban expansion, infrastructure gaps, and environmental stress. This study was undertaken to formulate a Development Plan for Rajkot 2047 that addresses these challenges. Beginning with city profiling and SIOs, key issues were identified—limited public transport, low green cover, and uneven development. A livable city concept became essential to ensure balanced growth. Guided by the 3E framework—Economy, Equity, Environment— strategies were proposed for zoning, mobility, housing, and green infrastructure. The vision aims to guide Rajkot’s future growth in a structured, inclusive, and sustainable manner, rooted in local context and long-term needs.
