Rajkot- Economically and Environmentally Resilient City

The "Resilient Rajkot 2041" initiative aims to build a sustainable, adaptable, and inclusive future for the city. While Rajkot remains a significant industrial hub, contributing 6.55% to Gujarat’s GDP, its economy has increasingly transitioned toward the service sector in recent years. However, the city faces critical environmental issues, including limited green spaces, water scarcity, poor stormwater management, and the declining health of its waterbodies, highlighting the urgent need for integrated ecological planning. This vision seeks to transform Rajkot into a city that is both economically dynamic and environmentally resilient, capable of withstanding future challenges. The strategy focuses on diversifying the economy, supporting traditional industries alongside emerging sectors such as green technology and tourism. Sustainable growth will be achieved through climate-resilient infrastructure, the adoption of renewable energy, efficient public transport systems, and the conservation of natural resources. Central to the vision is fostering an inclusive urban environment that ensures equal access to opportunities, services, and public spaces for all residents by 2041.
