Expeditions into Metals and Plastics

The design of products, to meet the demands of built spaces is challenging. The products have to meet the demands of lifestyle as well as technology changes. The studio will introduce a design process that leads to solutions in various domains such as work, home and other spaces. The studio modules will enhance the experience of the students by exploring the properties of ferrous metals, nonferrous metals, thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics, and finding opportunities to use these in their design with methods (processes) of working with them.
The design process will emphasise building the skills of working with materials w.r.t. form, structure and function of the designed intention.
The students will employ and hone skills like sketching, digital, physical model making and presentation with a view to generate concepts.
