In India, the craft is a way of life. Craft Bazar or haat or mela is the common sightings in such context. But within the urban context, the craft has to redefine itself. In the recent decade, crafts are bringing a new wave of creating a material culture and emerging as a collaborative practice. It is time to celebrate this emergence of crafts, globally and within India by bringing them to the public domain through craft-design collaborations. This studio is an attempt to know, understand, and represent the festive spirits of traditional and contemporary craft practices in the format of the public display. This multidisciplinary studio unit is an amalgamation of crafts, graphic design and exhibition design. This unit is part of a 4-year-long project - Threads of Innovation (TOI), an international academic collaboration between the CEPT University and NTNU, Norway.
