One of the biggest challenges for the history and theory in the Indian context is the lack of archives. In the case of built environment studies, the building itself is often the only (or at least the only accessible) source. Learning to deconstruct or reconstruct narratives on the basis of the building as an object is a crucial abilities that only architectural historians posses. This studio focuses on developing this ability - of examining physical form and being able to trace and conjecture the process of architectural production. Specifically, the students will compare networks of production through twentieth century and map how the ecology of architectural making and practices transformed over time.
