Dynamic Atmospheres: Sensing the Transient

This studio explores the dynamic interplay between the environment and architectural design. It aims to develop a heightened sensitivity and appropriate response to the surrounding elements of the environment such as sun, wind and light.
Employing both conventional and alternative data collection methods and analysis techniques, students will identify the implicit connections and underlying patterns within the environment. These insights will serve as the foundation for crafting engaging narratives that enhance awareness of the environment’s daily and seasonal rhythms.
The course equips students with essential tools for environmental analysis, data visualization, and creative communication, culminating in the development of insightful design proposals. Emphasizing that design extends beyond comfort, the studio encourages students to push boundaries and create spaces that breathe and transform in response to the ever-changing environment.
This holistic approach aims to nurture individuals who are sensitive, aware, and capable of recognizing and responding to complex patterns. By familiarizing students with the intricate dynamics of the environment, the studio empowers them to translate this awareness into creative spatial design strategies. This fosters the latent potential of design to impact our well-being and experience of the world.
