Spaces, Climate and Details

Why is each one of us different?

Why are we not the same?

What makes us different from the person sitting next to us?

Do we need to be different?

What we are asking is that if we''''re not the same, can our buildings be "The same"?

Can our responses not be varied ?

And,

What will create these variations?

The intent of the studio is to study the aspects which will create variations and generate a responsive design strategy with the context. While having constants of materials and programs, the idea is to bring forth variables of climate, site and context to define the built environment.

What we expect by the end would be:

1. Evolution of two different building typologies in different climate zones in the Indian Sub-continent
2. Corresponding details which relate to each zone
3. Understanding of graphical techniques emphasizing the conceptual understanding.
4. Making communicative drawings and representative models indicating the conceptual understanding through variables

The process of the studio will involve a site-study, decoding the parameters of variables, studying the vernacular typology, understanding responses through works of architects in a similar context through experiences and lectures,  developing of step by step proposals through the lens of context and being able to communicate it thoroughly.
