TA: Jaykumar Faldu | Panth Shah | MADHAV MEVAWALADesign of Reinforced Concrete Structures
The studio will focus on the design of reinforced concrete structures. Each student will be assigned a unique real-life project to design. They will develop the structural system, initially considering only gravity loads, and will later evolve their system to account for earthquake loading. The evolution and variations in the structural system will be discussed through engineering fundamentals, theories, and codal requirements. This process of arriving at an optimized structural system will be well documented, and results will be explained in the report. After finalizing the structural system, students will design the members, such as slabs, beams, columns, shear walls, footings, and staircases, in accordance with Indian Standards. Buildings will be designed for both static and dynamic loads. Students will submit detailed drawings for their designs. During the studio, they will also create physical models and test them on a shake table to understand the behavior of structures with different irregularities.
