Suburban Housing Design

This studio aimed at the architectural design of suburban housing communities. The studio exercises focused on creating livable residential neighbourhoods with a focus on the efficiency of design and construction technology, affordability, climate sensitive design, and appropriate landscape design strategies. Through the studio, students explored housing types such as row houses, twin bungalows, independent bungalows, low rise apartments. The design exercise explored the architectural questions of unit design, quality of common amenities, building material, architectural detailing, repetition v/s unique design, climate responses etc. The student projects involved preparing a detailed design of residential units of site layouts with street network strategies and design.
