Grammar of Form-Making

Spatiality has a deep relation with memory and membrane. Much like onions, interiors can be imagined as a series of membranes - that when sculpted could form a composite object - where each peel / surface folds onto itself to form a structure / volume. The studio’s focus will be on inquiries conducted in how form-making integrates all aspects of architecture as an internality. It will be looking at two ways of arriving at form-making; first being the use of a combination of tools of both the analog and digital (as an extension and agent of the mind and hand), second being the relation of the digital to the concept of ‘the virtual’, thematically augmenting this debate with design aligned (architectural & interior) grammar of drawing, model-making, photographs in ways where the interior spatiality becomes inseparable from or in opposition of its exterior skin. The objective of this STUDIO is to investigate ways of form-making, one that has its foundations in pure expression where the artistic approach dominates and allows an individual to make decisions ranging from esoteric to rational.
