Housing Project Studio

While India is becoming more and more ‘Urban” the responsibilities for cities to have self-sustaining projects using innovative value capture mechanisms has increased. Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has suggested ‘Value Capture Finance Policy Framework’ to provide guidance to State Governments and Union Territories to leverage their assets and make use of underutilized resources such as land to finance Urban development. In the Smart Cities Mission promoted by Government of India, special emphasis has been laid on making projects self-sustainable. The third semester Housing Project Studio is offered to give the MUH students exposure into the dynamic real-estate (including mass housing, luxury housing, redevelopment projects, special typologies like Railway stations, Multi-modal transport hubs and others). The HPS is expected to enhance the knowledge with respect to the real estate market as well as develop important skills required to function in the real estate market with real estate advisories, research institutions, real-estate developers and others. Based on macro & micro understanding of the city students will develop skills for LPA, LVC and other project concepts and apply the process on a few sites for detailed project development.
