Reading Objects, Writing Craft

Reading Objects, Writing Craft works alongside the studio, to build the ability of the students to work with words. Starting from critical readings of texts around design and architecture, and engagement with key concepts of design, the component introduces students to the basics of writing for their disciplines. The writing exercises range from constructing clear, well structured, descriptive paragraphs; to working along with the studio in describing objects and places through statements of purpose; to engaging in the basics of academic research. Overall, the process emphasizes working with feedback and through peer learning.
