Ornare: Ornamentation and its articulation in interior realm

The studio attempts to formulate, resolve, and design ornamentation as a primary approach to interior spaces. Ornamentation of eras represents ideas as perception, association, and symbolism with respect to materials, patterns, and form. In the 21st century, Ornamentation has implied itself as being versatile in designing interior spaces. The resurgence of ornament is supported by digital means, advanced material, construction techniques, modern expression, and abstract ideas serving the purpose of functionality.

This studio will utilize the potential role of ornamentation to create interior spaces and their expressions. The studio will be conducted through reinterpreting the tools, techniques, methods, and approaches to create ornamentation which executes new concepts of the space formation process.

The students will develop the ability to experiment, explore, and generate methods to fabricate an interior design project as an outcome of ornamentation. A design process will refine ornamentation for the given site context through scaled outcomes.
